Kali Undercover is nothing more than a script created by the company that maintains Kali Linux. However, it only changes the appearance of Kali Linux’s default Xfce. The applied theme is very similar to Windows, and with that, it avoids drawing the attention of those who might be around.
How to Enable Kali Undercover on Kali Linux
To activate or install Kali Undercover on Linux, it’s very easy, just run the command below and the script will take action quickly:Terminalkali-undercoverCopy
You will know that Kali Undercover is active when fonts, icons and screen layout are changed. The estimated time for everything to change is up to 5 seconds. And so, the fake Windows screen will be displayed. However, to disable or uninstall Kali Undercover just run the same highlighted command and everything will be reverted.
How to install Kali Undercover on Ubuntu, Debian or Linux Mint
To install Kali Undercover on any Linux distribution based on Ubuntu or Debian, you can do it without any problem. To install, run the commands below in Terminal. Remember that on Debian, sudo is not enabled by default. However, you will either have to install using root or you can follow our tutorial where we teach you how to install and enable sudo on Debian .
Download Kali Undercover
To download Kali Undercover click on this link . If all your settings are at default, the file will be downloaded to the Download!
Go to the folder where the Kali Undercover download is located
Now that the file has been downloaded, let’s use Terminal and execute the command below. So, remember that we are assuming that the file was downloaded from the download folder in your /home. Terminal
cd /Downloads
sudo dpkg -i kali-undercover_x.x.x_all.debIf you find it too complicated to execute commands, you can double click on the downloaded file and the GUI should follow with the installation.
How to install Kali Undercover on Linux, on any distribution!
If you are using a Linux distribution like Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE, SUSE or any other system other than .deb, be aware that it is possible to install Kali Undercover as well. In this case, we’ll download Kali Undercover directly from the project’s git, to do that, run the commands below:Terminal
git clone https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/packages/kali-undercover
cd kali-undercover
sudo cp -r share /usr
sudo cp /bin/kali-undercover /usr/binHow to Uninstall Kali Undercover on Linux
If for some reason you want to uninstall and thus completely remove Kali Undercover from your Linux distribution, run the command below. However, if you remove it you will have to install everything again. Terminal
sudo rm /usr/bin/kali-undercover
sudo rm -r /usr/share/icons/Windows-10-Icons
sudo rm -r /usr/share/themes/Windows-10
sudo rm /usr/share/applications/kali-undercover.desktop
