Firefox 92.0, first offered to launch channel users on September 7, 2021

News:

  • More secure connections: Firefox can now automatically upgrade to HTTPS using HTTPS RR as Alt-Svc headers.
  • Full gamut color levels are now supported for video playback on many systems.
  • Mac users can now access macOS sharing options from the Firefox File menu.
  • Support for images containing ICC v4 profiles is enabled on macOS.

Fixes:

  • Firefox’s performance with screen readers and other accessibility tools is no longer seriously degraded if Mozilla Thunderbird is installed or upgraded after Firefox.
  • macOS VoiceOver now correctly reports buttons and links marked as ‘expanded’ using the expanded aria attribute.
  • An open alert on one tab no longer causes performance issues on other tabs using the same process.

Firefox 92 Install in Linux

It is advisable that you wait for the arrival in your repositories, but if you want to manually install Firefox 92 follow the steps.

Installation will be done using Firefox from Mozilla servers and installed in the /opt directory.

Open the terminal and the commands in sequence.

Enter the working directory.

cd / opt

Use the command below to download the latest version of Firefox, choose your platform and language.

Unzip the download file.

sudo tar -jxvf /opt/firefox.tar.bz2

Let’s create the shortcut in the menu, give the command below in the terminal.

sudo nano /usr/share/applications/Firefox.desktop

Copy the lines below in red into the open file, save and close.
