Firefox has hardware video acceleration enabled by default for Linux systems with Mesa

In the nightly builds of Firefox, which will form the basis of the release of Firefox 103 on July 26, hardware-accelerated video decoding is enabled by default using the VA-API (Video Acceleration API) and FFmpegDataDecoder. Support is included for Linux systems with Intel and AMD GPUs that have Mesa drivers at least version 21.0. Support is available for both Wayland and X11.

For AMDGPU-Pro and NVIDIA drivers, hardware video acceleration support remains disabled by default. For manual enabling in about:config, you can use the “gfx.webrender.all”, “gfx.webrender.enabled” and “media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled” settings. You can use the vainfo utility to evaluate driver support for VA-API and determine for which codecs hardware acceleration is available on the current system.
