Lakka 3.4 distribution Released: kit and RetroArch 1.9.9 game console emulator

The release of the distribution has been Lakka 3.4 published , which allows you to turn computers, set-top boxes or single-board computers into a full-fledged game console for running retro games. The project is a modification of the distribution LibreELEC kit , which was originally designed for creating home theaters. Lakka builds are generated for i386, x86_64 platforms (Intel, NVIDIA or AMD GPUs), Raspberry Pi 1-4, Orange Pi, Cubieboard, Cubieboard2, Cubietruck, Banana Pi, Hummingboard, Cubox-i, Odroid C1 / C1 + / XU3 / XU4 and etc. To install, just write the distribution to an SD card or USB drive, connect a gamepad and boot the system.

At the same time , a new release of the game console RetroArch 1.9.9 emulator is presented , which forms the basis of the Lakka distribution. RetroArch emulates a wide range of devices and supports advanced features such as multiplayer games, save state, enhancing legacy games with shaders, rewinding games, hot plugging gamepads, and video streaming. Emulated consoles include Atari 2600/7800 / Jaguar / Lynx, Game Boy, Mega Drive, NES, Nintendo 64 / DS, PCEngine, PSP, Sega 32X / CD, SuperNES, etc. Supports gamepads from existing game consoles including PlayStation 3, DualShock 3, 8bitdo, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

In the new issue of RetroArch:

  • Support for high dynamic range (HDR, High Dynamic Range) has been implemented, which is currently limited only for drivers using Direct3D 11/12. HDR support is planned for Vulkan, Metal and OpenGL at a later date.
  • The Nintendo 3DS Port has added support for displaying an interactive menu in the lower touchscreen area.
  • The “Cheats” menu now supports advanced search.
  • On platforms that support ARM NEON instructions, optimizations are used to speed up audio processing and conversion.
  • Added support for technology AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) to reduce loss of image quality when scaling for high resolution screens. AMD FSR can be used with drivers for Direct3D10 / 11/12, OpenGL Core, Metal, and Vulkan graphics APIs.
